Winter tires or not?

Winter tires or not? - Reparadius

Winter has arrived and you have an uncertain feeling as to whether the summer tires on your bike are sufficient for the icy and snow-covered ground or not. Is it worth investing in winter tires? If so, with spikes? If you look around online, you will quickly notice that there is a question of faith between two camps. Some think, I'll just keep riding and try to get by with the summer tires, and others think intensively about winter tires.

To ensure that cyclists are on the safe side, they need different tires for every weather condition. Based on the opinions and discussions of many cyclists, we derive the following scenarios:

  •         In fresh and soft snow, a wide and coarse studded tire with a soft rubber compound should be used
  •         On frozen snow paths that have already been trampled by other cyclists and pedestrians and are rock hard, tires with spikes make more sense

But to be on the safe side, it is worth taking a look at the current ADAC test “ Winter tires for bicycles ” to get a holistic picture. With this in mind, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! J
